Disclaimer: I’m no beauty blogger, but I do dabble in the beauty of organic things from time to time. If you’re like me, then you’ll appreciate this. 😉
Today, I came home from work with my face feeling sticky and icky, so I decided to take a cue from the many Vicks Vapor Rub steam sessions of my childhood and I created a steam bath for my face in order to free my clogged pores and release the hardships of the day.
Naturally, I kept it simple and grabbed things from my fridge and kitchen cabinet. I like to think that I’m nifty that way, but truly, I’m just lazy and will let the idea go if it takes more than a single extra breath.
If you’re like me and you’re looking for a refreshing end to your day, try out this facial and enjoy!
What You’ll Need:
Organic Coconut Oil
Organic Tea Tree Oil
1 large bowl
1 fluffy towel
Good ole water
Boil a tea pot worth of water. So far, so easy.
Step 2, 3, 4, 5:
Grate the skin of half a lemon into the bowl, cut 1/3 of the lemon and squeeze out the juice.
After you’ve gotten your hands a bit dirty, scoop out a nice heaping tablespoon of coconut oil and add it to the bowl.
Then, carefully drop 1 to 2 drips of tea tree oil into the bowl. I say be careful, because TTO is pretty fragrant and it may keep you from being able to breath comfortably once you’re head over heels for your steamy bowl.
Finally, carefully add your hot water filling the bowl half way.
Pick a comfortable spot to begin your facial and steam away! Just place a towel over your head and steam for about 10-15 minutes.
I cleansed my face before steaming and immediately followed my steam session with my facial toner and moisturizer.
If you’re a frugal girl like me, then you can pour out a bit of your watery mixture and store the rest in the fridge for the next day. Just set the bowl out ahead of time and add fresh hot water.
Also, I had a bit of boiling water left over, so I made myself some Yogi Healthy Skin Tea. 🙂
